Now I have a scanner and scan and scan and scan at the moment all my roll film photos that I've ever shot. That's a lot of work, but it's also fun to see the old photos and memories to evoke.

Here is a sample somewhere on an Italian beach in the autumn of 1997.

Monday Trip 14 - National Parc Jasmund 1

The forest

The National Park Jasmund is on the island of Ruegen in the Baltic Sea.

The highlight of the National Park is undoubtedly the Chalk cliffs,

which plunge into the depth of several meters.

To reach the cliffs, you have to go a beautiful 3 km long hiking trail.

It performs one of the largest and most beautiful beech forest that I've ever seen

(in Bavaria there are many forests, so beautiful was so far not one),

and it goes along meadows, marshes and giant trees.

At the end of the hike you are rewarded with spectacular views of the sea and into the depths.

Monday Trip 13 - From Weltenburg to Kelheim by boat

Questions for you before the Mondaytrip follows:
I have countless vacation photos of rolls of film on paper.
Now I want to scan the photos and I need to buy a scanner.

What have you done for experience with scanners? What scanner do you use?

From Weltenburg we went back by boat to Kelheim.

The special feature of this trip is the Donaudurchbruch, the rock walls (limestone) up to 80m high and they are very popular with rock climbers.

The limestone formations have names such as Three warring brothers ... Robber rocks ... Bishop's cap ... Napoleon's suitcase.

Monday Trip 14: Warnemünde

It's Monday and time for a little bit wanderlust.

Today we go to Warnemünde, a town on the Baltic Sea, which we visited in our holidays.

The lighthouse is a symbol of Warnemünde.

You can climb it and is rewarded with a fantastic view.

The Teepott used to be the architectural showpiece of Warnemünde and a restaurant.

Imagine: My parents did their honeymoon in Warnemünde and there - 37 years ago! - danced in the evening to the music of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. :)

The visitors have all signed on the walls with names and date.

The lighthouse and the Teepott.

Hotel Neptun: That was in the days of communism a noble hotel,

then very, very expensive and not everyone had access.

It looks a little bit like in France or England. Is not it so?

I think so.

Wrapped in a blanket we made ourselves comfortable in a beach cafe and watch the kites flew everywhere on the beach in the sky.

The gooseberry pie was delicious: sweet and sour at the same time.

Monday Trip 13: Castle of Schwerin

On our trip to the Baltic Sea, we have made a short trip to Schwerin.

We wanted to see the Schwerin Castle.

From the outside the castle reminded us a bit of a house made of Lego bricks.

It was all very pretty and well kept, but unnatural in a certain way.

Inside, we admired a porcelain collection. Sure, there are lovers, we are not among them.

And in another area of the castle we visited the old quarters and the throne room of the princes of Schwerin.

Outside there is a nice planted garden and a grotto.

Most of us are on the way, at school, at work

Monday Trip 12 - From Kelheim to Weltenburg

A rewarding excursion destination in Lower Bavaria is a short walk (3.7 km) from the town of Kelheim to the monastery of Weltenburg.

This walk takes you above the Danube on the mountain Michel has a magnificent hardwood forest,

which have already lived the Celts in their oppidum called Alkimoennis.

With a small wooden ferry we crossed the Danube and enjoyed a meal at the Bavarian beer garden of the monastery Weltenburg.

Crackling fat with a radish and fresh baked bread

Weltenburg is a Benedictine monastery, which was set up in 617th.

The monastery is famous mainly for his monastery brewery and tasting the delicious dark beer.

Interesting is the monastery church and its ceiling fresco.

After the walk, and the bread platter we sat on the bank of the Danube,

we had stones jump on the water and we were wonderfully lazy.

The weather is gigantic: blue sky, sunshine, + 25 degrees.

Anywhere it blooms and greenery.

Fortunately - the supermarket visit we have already put behind us this morning.

And bought fresh strawberries.

The first strawberries this year.

And they even tasted sweet.

Tomorrow we will barbecue with the family,

on Saturday we will take a trip

and on Sunday we will pack your bags,

get on board to travel to the Baltic Sea on Monday.

Five days of sea, the smell of salt and algae and new impressions.

that nobody knows.

Here are some things about Li:

1. I was born in East Germany, Chemnitz, and I left the former GDR with my parents before the opening of the border.

2. I'm smaller than my daughter since she was about twelve years old.

3. I live alone with my daughter.

4. I was for several months as a backpacker
from northern Chile to southern Chile and Tierra del Fuego to go.
It was a great adventure.
I traveled by plane, car, bus, boat and train,
I slept in hotels, bed & breakfasts, tent, car and outdoors.
And in front of me a cougar walked slowly across the road.

5. Soon my apartment is too small for the many books I've collected.

6. I need a strong coffee in the morning - preferably an espresso mixed with milk.

7. I've written a few novels, waiting to be reviewed by me and sent to be ... if I have time.

And here are some things about Belle:

1. I have blue glasses since the third class.

2. I am the only one from my family who comes from Bavaria.

3. I am a big fan of Benjamin McKenzie, Adam Brody and Johnny Depp. I especially love the series O.C. California and the film series Pirates of the Caribbean.

4. I have this year on Mothers Day birthday (May 8th).

5. I have purple Chucks and get black chucks to my birthday.

6. In my room is a huge mess because I'm just too lazy to clean up the room. :) Maybe I should clean up, because I don’t often find important things.

7. I need every morning, a Nutella bread, because if I get none, the day is not fine with me. ;))
I love nutella.

Monday Trip 11 - The Liberation Hall

Good morning friends, you had a good weekend?

Today is Monday, and Monday is travel day.

Today, we take you again to Bavaria for the Liberation Hall.

In Bavaria there are huge, historic buildings on every corner. :)

Bavaria - you know, we live in Bavaria, a German federal state

which looks like a separate state outside of Germany.

Are a little bit crazy, the Bavarians. :)

But it is good to live here.

There are very beautiful and diverse landscapes,

commendable are the Bavarian meals,

and always surprising the sometimes strange customs.

And they brew good beer.

And we'll make a proposal so that you get to know better Bavaria (or us):

What do you want to know and to see of Bavaria ?

What would you be interested in Bavaria?

You tell us what we should shoot for you, and we set off for the camera.

(alternatively we also photograph things that you want to know about us:))

So, the Hall of Liberation is a large, round building that stands on a hill on the Danube.

King Ludwig of Bavaria was a contract to build in 1842.

In 1863 it was finally opened.

From the parapet you have a wonderful view over the Danube and the town of Kelheim.

Belle has a lot to do for the school and I was sick.
My desire was low, outside to look for great photo motives, and Belle had almost no time for a walk.

The weather was not always very nice.

Monday Trip 10 - Kloster Neustift

Today is Monday. Today begins the new week. And now it's time for travel memories.

Have a look on the blogs of Menthe Blanche and Alex la marguerite , who present every Monday also her favorite destinations.

Last year we visited the monastery of Neustift in South Tyrol.
It began as a rainy day, but after we finished visiting the monastery, it was still sunny and very warm.

The monastery is located near Brixen near the road that is leading Pusteria. The monastery was built about 1145th.

We have been through a leadership that was kept in a fast pace, but still it was a lot of historical insight to look into the monastic life.

Inside the church, it is particularly beautiful and magnificent.

it is designed to enforce the morning early.

This has advantages - and disadvantages.

Benefits are undoubtedly:

Monday Trip 9 - Obertauern

Today is Monday. Today begins the new week. And now it's time for travel memories.

I spent last week in a ski camp and it was really great!

First we had to drive five hours to Obertauern.

The bus ride was pretty funny.

I heard music, read, talked with friends.

In between, we have made two breaks.

When we were finally here, everyone was excited.

We went first to the rooms, have moved us and then it went off.

We have all taken out and the beginners have learned to drive on the first day skiing.

I was a beginner.

In the beginning I found it very exhausting, but the next day was all pretty simple.

One evening we made disco and the effect was fantastic and cool.

Too bad that the ski camp is already out.

It was a wonderful and beautiful experience.

One of the best I ever had.

The Walhalla. A gigantic building that we visited in the holidays.

When we had reached the top, we had a fantastic view.

We had a cloudless view and could even look to Ratisbon.

We have seen the TV tower and watched a ship on the Danube.

Above it was very windy, but that did not particularly disturbed because the sun was beautiful.

In short, it was a wonderful day and we had a lot of fun.

- We have skis and luggage stowed in the car

And now it's monday morning and my daughter goes for a week with her grade in a ski camp in the mountains. And I'm looking forward already to the moment when she comes back on Saturday.

And since I like to read, I always like to answer questions about my reading preferences.

Which book is your favorite book of all time?

Li: Water Music - T.C. Boyle

Do you prefer to buy books or borrow you them to you?
Li: I prefer to buy books.

Belle: Me too.

Do you prefer hardback or paperback books?
Li: I prefer hardback books.

Belle: I like both.

Do you prefer to buy at amazon or in a bookstore?
Li: At amazon. (It saves time. ;))

Belle: Different. But I prefer to buy in a bookstore.

Are you sorting your books by author and title or place them randomly on the shelf?
Li: I put them randomly on the shelf.

Belle: Li takes my words out of my mouth. ;)

Do you keep the dust cover or you throw it away?
Li: I prefer to keep it.

Belle: Me too.

Do you buy new books or do you read used books?
Li: I like new better, because a newly printed book smells very good.

Belle: I only read new books. Used books, I do not particularly like.

Which better beginning do you like: The night was dark and stormy ... or ... it once was?

Li: The first one.

Belle: The first one, too.

How does your purchasing decision: bestsellers, book reviews, recommendations from friends or relatives?
Li: Book reviews.

Belle: That's different.

You prefer to read a single tape or a series?
Li: A single tape.

Belle: Both.

Do you prefer a closed end or a cliff-hanger?
Li: I prefer a cliff-hanger.

Belle: I prefer a closed end because with an cliff-hanger you need to imagine an end and I can't stand that.

Do you prefer bookmarks or do you have a dog-ear the page?
Li: I must confess that I wrinkle a dog-ear in the pages. But only in my own. ;)

Belle: I prefer bookmarks.

Do you prefer short stories or read whole novels?
Li: I prefer to read whole novels.

Belle: I usually read whole novels. I like them better than short stories.

Are you stopping when you are tired, or read you to the end of the chapter?
Li: Mostly I read the chapter to an end.

Belle: Me too.

What book you like from nobody has ever heard of?
Li: Lean on Pete - Willy Vlautin

Eva Baronsky – Magnolienschlaf

Ein kleines altes Haus am Rande der Großstadt und zwei Frauen, wie sie verschiedener nicht sein könnten: Wilhelmine und Jelisaweta trennt so viel mehr als 68 Lebensjahre. Jelisaweta ist 23 und für ein paar Wochen aus Smolensk nach Deutschland gekommen, um Wilhelmine zu pflegen, die seit einem Unfall an ihr Bett gefesselt ist. Doch was als scheinbar ideales Arrangement beginnt, gerät bald außer Kontrolle und wird zu einem Kleinkrieg, in dessen Verlauf die beiden Frauen sich auf grausam-weibliche Weise attackieren. Am Ende wird jede auf die Frage zurückgeworfen, was man mit sich anfängt, nachdem man der Wahrheit ins Auge gesehen hat. Denn Schuld wartet nicht auf Kläger, Sühne braucht keinen Richter, und der Krieg ist nicht vorbei, nicht für die Greisin und nicht für das Mädchen. Der Krieg hat gerade erst angefangen.

Autorin

Eva Baronsky, 1968 geboren, lebt im Taunus. Für ihren ersten Roman »Herr Mozart wacht auf« (2010) erhielt sie den Förderpreis des Friedrich-Hölderlin-Preises der Stadt Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe. Im Frühjahr 2011 erscheint ihr zweiter Roman »Magnolienschlaf«.

Meinung

Seit dem letzten Einschlag hat es sechzehn Mal getropft. Sechzehn Tropfen, seit der Boden zu zittern aufgehört hat. Sechzehn Tropfen, seit die kleine Petroleumfunzel wieder stumm und reglos brennt. Sechzehn Tropfen, eine winzige Ewigkeit. Kein Mensch weiß, woher sie kommen, schließlich läuft seit Tagen kein Wasser mehr aus den Leitungen. Sie quellen aus der Gewölbedecke aus der Nische, wo die Kohlen gelegen haben, fallen mit einem knirschenden Geräusch auf den Sandboden und versickern dort. Die Intervalle sind lang, sehr lang. Eine Minute? Zwei? Man hört ihren Fall nur, wenn absolute Stille herrscht, wenn die Angst sogar die Atemgeräusche verschluckt.

Angst und Schuld – wie geht man damit um, nachdem man beides Jahrzehnte lang unterdrückt und tief in sich verborgen hat? Was macht man mit einem Geheimnis, von dem niemand weiß, von dem auch niemand wissen soll, und das plötzlich das Tageslicht sucht?
Eva Baronksy ist eine begnadete Erzählerin – bereits mit ihrem erstes Buch „Herr Mozart wacht auf“ überzeugte die Autorin mit einer durchdachten Handlung, mit einer großen Empathie gegenüber ihren Protagonisten und mit feinem Humor.
Auch in diesem Buch „Magnolienschlaf“ gelingt es Eva Baronsky mich von der ersten Seite an zu packen. Zwei Frauen, die nicht nur vom Alter unterschiedlicher sein können. Die sich nicht mögen und doch aufeinander angewiesen sind. Deren Lebensgeschichten so weit auseinander liegen, dass es klar sein muss, dass die beiden nicht miteinander, sondern nur gegeneinander können. Und doch haben sie mehr gemeinsam, als sie anfangs glauben – und der Leser auch.
Eva Baronsky zeigt auch hier eine große Empathie gegenüber ihren Figuren, sie geht nah – näher kann man fast nicht gehen und sich näher als Leser auch nicht fühlen. Jede einzelne – egal ob Wilhelmine oder Jelisaweta, egal ob schuldig oder nicht – scheint ihr wichtig, scheint es ihr Wert zu sein.
Die Handlung spielt im Hier und Jetzt in einem Haus in einem Frankfurter Vorort, in dem Eva Baronsky die beiden Protagonistinnen aufeinander loslässt – Wilhelmine, die bettlägerige, alte Frau, die nicht immer das Wasser halten kann und Russen hasst, und Jelisaweta, die aus Russland anreist, um Wilhelmine zu pflegen, die Deutsch mit einem Akzent spricht, dem ich ewig zuhören könnte und die trotz ihres jungen Alters einige Schatten aus der Vergangenheit mit sich herumtragen muss.
Der Leser erlebt einen Kleinkrieg, der sehr tief geht und alte Wunden aufreißt. Nach und nach flechtet die Autorin in Rückblicken die Vergangenheiten der beiden Frauen ein, die frühe und noch frische Vergangenheit der jungen Jelisaweta und die alte, die längst vergessen und begraben sein sollende Vergangenheit von Wilhelmine.
Eva Baronksy erzählt in einer schönen und schnörkellosen Sprache eine schaurige Geschichte, eine, bei der ich nicht immer weiterlesen wollte, bei der ich manchmal innehalten und die entstandenen Bilder verscheuchen musste, und doch erzählt sie auch eine Geschichte, die viel Platz für Menschlichkeit lässt.

Monday Trip 7: The castle of Lichtenwalde

Today is Monday. Today begins the new week. And now it's time for travel memories.

Have a look on the blogs of Menthe Blanche and Alex la Marguerite, who present every Monday also their favorite destinations.

Last year we visited Chemnitz, and there made a trip to the castle of Lichtenwalde. The castle of Lichtenwalde is a small castle with a beautiful large garden in which there is to inspect water games. In the castle you can see art and culture exhibits from West Africa, East Asia and the Himalayas.

Best Of Week - the stone bridge

The stone bridge is - next to the Cathedral - the symbol of Ratisbon,

was built in the 12th century and is more than 800 years old.
